- A partnership project between the Development Bank of Southern Africa, the South African Local Government Association, the Department of Cooperative Governance and the Local Government Sector Education Training Authority
About the LGRC
The LGRC was developed during 2006 as a support tool to help municipal councillors and officials fulfil their developmental responsibilities and duties. As a new term of local government begins, this practical one-stop resource is now extended to a much wider local government audience by making it also accessible through the internet. The vision is to promote this practical one-stop electronic resource more widely as the single coordinated online resource for the sector, with the active support of the partner organisations.
• Empowering today’s municipal professionals
• Gateway to local government knowledge
• Easy access to relevant, up-to-date news and information
• Connecting municipal voices via discussion forums/blogs
What is on the LGRC Portal?
The LGRC provides step-by-step guidelines, support material and an advisory service to assist municipal councillors and officials. It also includes news, legislation, policy and useful resources relevant to local government. The DBSA and a team of specialist municipal content providers update the LGRC on a frequent basis, ensuring that that information is practically relevant and easy to find. The aim is to make a real difference to councillors, officials and other stakeholders as they undertake their day-to-day responsibilities. The various types of content, developed over five years, are grouped into core themes, making it easy to search for the information and support you need.
