The introduction of the Codes of Good Practice (the Codes) under the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Act, makes it possible for organisations to track their Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) performance against an agreed set of parameters which are comparable across all organisations and form an integral part of the South African economy. Transformation forms an inherent part of the business and naturally includes stakeholders, staff, clients, procurement practices, business partners and the community.

Empowerment and transformation have been important fundamentals in the DBSA for many years and continually measuring the DBSA against the Codes of Good Practice validates the DBSA’s satisfactory progress made to date.

The DBSA has maintained an overall satisfactory “Level Three Contributor” performance against the Broad-Based BEE Codes of Good Practice targets for the period ended 31 March 2011, with an overall score of 80.52 out of 100.

At the DBSA, we believe that BEE forms a natural and integrated part of sustainable business and every staff member’s support will be required to ensure consistent progress on maintaining and/or improving our rating going forward.
