Knowledge Week 2010

Access the latest knowledge week - Knowledge Week 2011 - Greening Infrastructure Programmes in South Africa

The Development Bank of Southern Africa, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements, is hosting its annual Knowledge Week with the theme “South African Human Settlements 2030 – Rethinking the Spatial Development Trajectory.” The Knowledge Week provides a platform for knowledge practitioners to share knowledge, interact and debate on topical development issues that have an impact on the aspirations of South Africa and the region.

This theme is timely, given that South Africa’s human settlement patterns do not adequately address the needs of local communities. The current view among development practitioners suggests that in order to improve the quality of life of South Africa’s communities, there is a need to move away from one-size-fits-all approaches to customized solutions for different settlements, within an integrated national spatial development framework.

The Knowledge Week targets human settlements policy makers and practitioners, development planners, non-governmental organizations, academic and research institutions, development finance institutions and funders and investors.
