Accreditation of Vulindlela Academy Programmes

Vulindlela has been granted extension of scope of its accreditation to include four additional full qualifications effective from 01 February 2009 to 31 December 2013. This accreditation further strengthens Vulindlela course offering capacity in the prioritised skill areas of management, planning and finance as well as in the SADC Region. This extension of scope of accreditation has the following benefits:

• Vulindlela can offer certificates of competence in these skill areas;

• Learners can earn credits, if they meet all the assessment requirements for these courses;

• Vulindlela is beginning to position itself as ‘a premier capacity-building provider and partner of choice’.

 

Short Courses offered by Vulindlela Academy

Vulindlela offers training programmes that have been requested by clients (i.e. demand-driven) for municipal and government officials, but training is also conducted for Siyenza Manje deployees, DBSA project and programme managers, analysts, specialists, etc. In addition, Vulindlela commissions studies and needs analyses to ensure that the programmes that are offered are relevant, and because the needs of low-capacity intermediaries are frequently subject to change, so Vulindlela offerings will also vary accordingly. The majority of Vulindlela training courses are accredited through the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), specifically the Local Government SETA, however when university partners are utilised, the South African Council for Higher Education (CHE) is the accrediting body.

Vulindlela staff continuously manage the quality of the training it offers through accreditation of its training programmes and by assessing learners through Portfolios of Evidence (POEs). The academy delivers both short skills programmes and long-term qualifications as listed in the tables that follow.
