The Advisory Unit of the Division is active in all the main sectors including: Energy, Water Services, Transport, ICT, Waste Management, Tourism, Agriculture, Human Settlements, Mining including the socio economic sectors of Health and Education and sets out to:

•          Develop and promote good practice

–        Across infrastructure sector projects

–        provide sector environmental scanning, crosscutting  
   perspectives, strategies and guidelines

–         update project appraisal modules

–        coordinate knowledge sharing and collaboration vehicles
   (Communities of Practice –COP’s)

–         facilitate specialist input into scenario planning and management

•          Provide specialist advisory services

–         Participate before and during appraisal and evaluation of projects

–         Provide technical inputs to internal and external clients, selected to
    be congruent with DBSA programmes and initiatives
