What types of funding or grants does the DBSA offer, and how do I apply?

The DBSA currently focuses on large scale infrastructure projects within the private and public sector. The financing of private individuals and start-up businesses within the SME sector is not directly in line with the DBSA mandate. The small and medium business operation is not the DBSA's area of focus as there are other development financing institutions already mandated to provide funding in that space.

For more information on the DBSA's mandate, and what we do, plese read the DBSA Introduction, a 2MB adobe acrobat document.

To apply for funding within the DBSA Mandate, please go to the DBSA "Contact Us" page - and fill in the online form. An email is then sent to the webmaster, who forwards it to the appropriate party. Please fill in all the fields, as requests are filtered by their area, as well as by public or private sector or located in SADC.

How can I get Corporate Social Investment (CSI) funding or sponsorship?

Please read our CSI home page and our guidelines  for an introduction and download and fill in the document “Application for CSI Funding”  at the top of the CSI home page. Please forward a detailed proposal with the CSI application form to MandaB@DBSA.org

Please note that we are currently focusing on four areas, namely

·         Early Childhood Development (ECD)

·         Youth Development

·         Empowerment of Women

·         Environmental Management

We reserve the right to amend these focus areas on a yearly basis.

The Bank will not consider funding for:

·         Individuals

·         Political parties or political candidates

·         Religious organizations or activities representing a specific denomination

·         Activities that create an environmental hazard

·         Sponsoring events, fundraising, tables, study or sport tours

·         Operational costs such as staff salaries, rent and non-sustainable activities

·         No direct funding to be directed to government except in partnership on a community development project

·         Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, colour, gender or sexual orientation

·         Charitable fund raisers and beauty pageants

How do I apply for employment?

Thank you for the interest that you have shown in the DBSA. To be considered for any position at the DBSA, your CV must first be registered on our database. We can only accept CV’s via our E-recruitment system. To send us your CV, please go to the DBSA.org website, and click on the "Careers" link.

Next, click on "Register Your CV", the third item on the menu.

If you have any problems, please don't hesitate to click on the "contact support" link, the fifth item on the menu, and your request will be forwarded to the appropriate person.

How can I register on your suppliers database?

The procedure to be added to the DBSA’s database is to follow the procurement process.

A tender is advertised on the DBSA website, or in a National newspaper. The responses are then opened and verified for compliance. The successful vendor is then appointed, and is registered on our database.

For more information on the procedure, please look at the sourcing process at – Sourcing Process.

Or, if you are in direct communication with the Business Unit and have been invited to bid for your product or service or have been requested to submit a quotation, you will be issued with a RFP number or an official order number. Once you have submitted, the required proposal or request will be evaluated, passed for Governance verification, negotiated, contracted and added to the DBSA supplier’s database.

Thanks again for considering the DBSA as a potential customer for your business, and we wish you success in your business venture.

Do you have any tenders available?
