The DBSA regularly engages with a range of stakeholders and as a result of such engagements is sometimes privy (by reason of necessity) to extensive third-party confidential information which is made available by both clients and co-funders on projects such as the Thabametsi and Khanyisa power plants. Strict confidentiality provisions are therefore customary in such circumstances so as to protect the integrity of, as well as to facilitate the free exchange of confidential information.
The DBSA is therefore unable to publicly disclose information about the financing of the Thabametsi and Khanyisa projects. We remain committed to playing a significant role in dealing with the challenges of climate change and sustainable development.
We commend the commitment and dedication of civil society to demand the protection, enforcement and pursuit of environmental rights and welcome engagement and collaboration in the interests of a sustainable future for all citizens of our country.
