Holds a PhD from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Arts Honours from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand. Prof. Swilling is an international expert in sustainable development, with over thirty years of experience in ‘societal transitions’ (with special reference to urban systems), initially with a focus on democratization and governance during the Apartheid era, and more recently within the wider discipline of sustainability studies at the global level. Currently a distinguished Professor of Sustainable Development, at the School of Public Leadership, Stellenbosch University.

Dr Gaby is a respected business leader with extensive corporate finance; banking and general management experience acquired over thirty (30) years in various countries. A seasoned individual who has led complex institutions and has multinational and extensive experience in the rest of Africa. Mr Magomola has previously worked as CEO of several entities including Korang INV Holdings, Future Bank, African Bank and City Bank Africa amongst others.

She also worked at Triumph Venture Capital, Citigroup and EY, respectively.

He previously served as Head: Public Sector, Client Coverage, Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank of South Africa and he is currently serving as Head: Business Development at Trade Capital Investments. He has extensive public sector experience in government having served as South Africa’s first Chief Procurement Officer in the National Treasury and also served as the Deputy Director General in Inter-governmental Relations within South Africa’s National Treasury. His area of expertise covers supply chain management, public sector banking, procurement, intergovernmental relations, and strategic Management.

Previously served as a Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") of Roads Agency Limpopo SOC Limited (‘’RAL’’) where he oversaw road infrastructure planning, development, management and maintenance projects in the Limpopo Province.
